🌿🌍 The entire community, especially young people, children and schools, is invited to learn how to take care of our environment through a series of educational and fun activities.

📅 Date: Saturday, June 8 (although officially it is Wednesday the 5th)

📍 Location: Technochtitlan Biopark

Program of the Day:

10:00 AM - Talk and Tour about Birds 🐦

We will start with a talk about birds while we walk along our beautiful bamboo path. We will install nests and waterers so that children and young people can learn how they can help local birds.

11:30 AM - Nests and Drinking Fountains Workshop 🛠️

We will teach how to make bamboo nests, drinkers and feeders. At the end of the workshop, children will be able to decorate their creations to their liking.

12:30 PM - Talk on Sustainability and Bioclimatics 🌞

How to Keep Your Environment Fresh Naturally: Discover how you can reduce the use of air conditioning and other expensive cooling systems through bioclimatic techniques.

Learn about the use of natural materials and sustainable construction techniques that are not only environmentally friendly, but also help regulate the temperature of your home.

We will explore methods such as the use of green roofs, green walls, and natural ventilation strategies.

You will learn how the design of spaces can influence energy efficiency and improve your thermal comfort.

We will analyze practical examples of bioclimatic solutions that you can easily implement in your home or community.

This talk will provide you with tools and knowledge to create a fresher and more sustainable environment, taking advantage of natural resources and reducing your ecological footprint.

1:00 PM - Break for Hydration and Food 🥤🍏

Take a break, hydrate, and enjoy some food. You are welcome to bring your own snacks or purchase any drinks or food that we will be offering.

1:30 PM - Talk on Biodiversity in Silvopastoral Systems 🌳🐄

Strategies to Enrich Biodiversity in Silvopastoral Systems: Species Selection: You will learn about the importance of choosing native species of trees, shrubs and grasses that not only adapt best to the local environment, but also provide food and shelter for a variety of fauna.

Landscape Management: Discover how to design and manage the landscape in a way that creates ecological corridors and refuge areas for wildlife, facilitating biodiversity and the connection between different habitats.

Sustainable Management Practices: Explore sustainable practices such as rotating grasslands to prevent overgrazing, using live fences to protect sensitive areas, and implementing agroforestry techniques that improve soil health and promote biodiversity.

Benefits of Biodiversity: Understand how a biodiverse silvopastoral system can improve ecosystem resilience, increase agricultural productivity and provide ecosystem services such as pollination and natural pest control.

Case Studies and Practical Examples: We will present examples of successful silvopastoral systems that have managed to enrich biodiversity, detailing the practices implemented and the results obtained.

This event is free! We only ask for a voluntary contribution to be able to continue offering these workshops to our community.

The cost of the kit is $350 Mexican pesos, and all funds raised will go towards our reforestation campaign.

Can't join us in person or not from Veracruz? No problem! You can always order the kit, and when you visit, we'll give it to you along with a tour of our space, plus the opportunity for free camping!

🤝 For sponsors: If you're interested in sponsoring our race, we offer the opportunity to include your logo on the back of the official event t-shirt and on our website. Contact us for more details on how you can be part of this initiative and promote your brand while supporting an important environmental cause.

With the funds raised, we'll have an inventory of materials necessary for reforestation, which we can lend to interested individuals. This will include tools such as:

  • Picks

  • Shovels

  • McLeod tools

  • Mechanical fire pumps

  • Black bags

  • Black soil

  • Seeds

Additionally, if you're looking to plant a specific tree, you can get the seeds, and we can grow the seedling in our greenhouse before transferring it to the nursery. Remember to contact biologists or local authorities to select the most suitable tree for your region.

Don't forget that native trees in the region develop strong roots, which prevent erosion and are less susceptible to falling during strong regional winds.
